A SLEEPY Locale
These notes, character names, location names, and concepts are sourced (and minimally modified where necessary) from the lyrics of the band Sleep, specifically the albums Sleep's Holy Mountain (1992), Dopesmoker (1998), and The Sciences (2018). These albums share a distinctly fantastical flair, with lyrics that seemed obvious for RPG plunder. As this is just a draft, and won't be released commercially, I'll leave it up to the reader to draw a map and determine distances.
The Holy Mountain seems to be the most important location, and seems to be home to the majority of the action. It produces rays which afflict those who tread upon it, that they become more and more weary until falling into deep slumber. It is the home of the Dragonaut, rider of the Astral Dragon, who is prophesied to fly through the Crimson Door. The Holy Mountain also houses The Druid, likely also called "the Dreamer" who lives at its' base in the Oaken Tower, a powerful magic-user who acts as a conduit for nature's wrath and frustration. At the very peak lies the Frost Tomb, of which nobody knows anything for sure, but which houses the Eye of the Silver Sun (capable of producing magical rays of freezing).
The Holy Mountain likely lies within some kind of mountain range, which includes various entrances to a vast underground. Populated by magmagolems and the Molten Prince, it is ever encroaching on the overworld in an attempt to summon a great Volcanic Titan capable of felling villages in flame. In the colder reaches of the range lie the Antarcticans, who are only recently thawed.
To one side of The Mountain is the Sandsea, the iconic locale of the cover to Dopesmoker. Home to the Weedians, who adhere to a social system splitting them in two: the Lungsfolk and the Creedsfolk. The Lungsfolk are the lay of the Weedians, merely imbibing the Sinsemilla, the sacred herb, in their communities. Then there are those who take the Smoke-Covenant, the Creedsfolk, who commit their lives to great Seed Caravans travelling to and from the Holy Mountain lead by the Kiefsatz Hasherach and his Bong Jabbar, where they might harvest their sacred herb on the Mountainside and "set their holy dove free". Occasionally, among the most entranced, echoes of the Sonic Titan reverberate (fuzzily, of course).
All about the region are signs of a malevolent Reptile Master, but details are sparse, even among the Atlanteans (those who will journey surface-side, that is). It should be noted that the Potion of the Atlantean Clergy is revered the land over for its' hallucinogenic and prophetic qualities.
Finally there are the two locations astrally adjacent to The Mountain, the Sun and the Anti-Moon. The Sun is just the Sun. The Anti-Moon houses the Choir of the Sun (confusingly) and seems to be the origin of The Vessel, some kind of craft able to make voyages through the astral nether, on a journey for the sun. There is supposedly a "Wall of Light in the sky" that allows passage to and from the Astral Realm.
Many locals all across the realms worry of the Hymns of Doom chanted by monks far and wide, and of the colliding of the specters of many planets with our own.
